
Banner Season: Five teams undefeated after first three championship draws
Oshawa, Ont. (via Ontario Tech Ridgebacks) – A handful of teams are still undefeated after the opening day of the OUA Women's Curling Championship, hosted by Ontario Tech University.
Pool D has three undefeated squads heading into Day 2 at Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, with the 2023 U SPORTS national championship host Laurentian Voyageurs 2-0 heading into their Saturday games against York and McMaster. They picked up a 14-1 win over Algoma to open the championship before knocking off the defending champion Laurier Golden Hawks 5-3.
Brock defeated Laurier 6-5 to open their championship before dropping the York Lions 9-2.
The final Pool D team to remain undefeated was Queen's who won 16-2 over York and 6-4 over McMaster.
Pool B is the other group to watch after Friday action, with Trent and Waterloo locking up 2-0 records after Draw 3. Waterloo earned a 12-1 win to open the day before an 8-2 win over Carleton in the evening draw. Trent defeated the host Ontario Tech Ridgebacks before topping the TMU Bold 6-4.
McMaster sits atop Pool A with a 1-1 record, their win coming 12-3 over the Toronto Varsity Blues.
Pool C, featuring the host Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, has Carleton and TMU tied at the top at 1-1. Carleton won 5-4 over Guelph, while TMU defeated the Western Mustangs 10-7.
