OUA partners with Griffin Porter to deliver basketball-focused content
Porter is no stranger to the university sport circuit, having been around it in multiple capacities for several seasons. The former broadcaster and journalist at Carleton University has since gone behind the microphone as play-by-play commentator for York Lions football and hockey broadcasts on OUA.tv. The Carleton alum, who also completed a post-graduate degree in sport journalism at Centennial College, served additionally as co-host for the OUA: In Conversation podcast in its inaugural season.
"OUA basketball is getting set for an incredibly exciting season, and I'm thrilled that we're going to be able to use this show to give it the close look it deserves," said Griffin. "We're going to have great guests and a lot of fun talking all about the season as it goes along, and I hope you'll join us."
As the 2022-23 season unfolds on the hardwood, Porter, who is also an associate producer at Sportsnet and freelance sportswriter for the Canadian Press, will lead conversations in the form of weekly basketball previews and recaps, as well as provide an additional spotlight on some of the standout student-athletes from across the conference courts.
"Griffin has been an active member of the university sport scene at the school and conference level, and we're excited to be working with him once again this season," said Chris Verlaan, OUA Manager of Digital and Communications. "His knowledge of sport and presence behind the mic will surely help to make this year's basketball content a slam dunk, keeping OUA fans informed and engaged from the opening tip-offs to the final championship buzzers."
The OUA women's and men's basketball seasons each get underway on November 1st.
