By the Numbers: Varsity Blues Grondin stands tall in net
 - Week 3 (1).png)
109 - Special teams played a starring role throughout the York Lions and Carleton Ravens football game on Saturday, and while they may have ended up on the losing side of the scoreboard, the visitors saw a special play of their own off of a missed field goal attempt. After corralling the wide kick from Carleton, York's Alfred Olay scampered out of the end zone and down the field, returning the off-target kick a total of 109 yards for the touchdown.

15 - It is never an easy task to ground the high-octane offence of the Carleton Ravens, but Toronto's Ben Grondin passed the test with flying colours on Sunday. Locked in a defensive battle with the No. 3 team in the country all game long, the Varsity Blues goalkeeper racked up 15 saves on the afternoon, including nine in the second half alone, to help his side earn a valuable road point in the scoreless draw.

8:08 - Denny Ferdinand, the OUA's most recent special teams player of the week, recorded a punt return touchdown late in the first half of his strong performance for Carleton, but he wasn't the only member of the Ferdinand family who found the end zone in the game. His brother, Kaseem, also accomplished the feat when he reeled in a 25-yard major five minutes into the second quarter. The sibling scores came 8:08 apart and made them the first brothers in Ravens history to score touchdowns in the same game.

8 - Seeing the field for the first time this season, after earning a win via forfeiture in Week 1, the reigning OUA champions from Guelph piled up the points in an 86-5 victory over McMaster. At the heart of the team's offensive efforts was Kendra Cousineau, who not only punched in a pair of tries, but also connected on eight converts for the Gryphons, racking up 26 total points on the day to rocket her up to second in the conference scoring ranks.

6 - It was an offensive masterclass from the Nipissing women's soccer team to open up their 2022 campaign, as the Lakers netted 11 goals against their rivals from Laurentian. As part of the double-digit win, Jennifer Milligan cracked the scoreboard on six separate occasions, including three goals and three assists for the North Bay bunch. The effort anchored a seven-point weekend for the second-year forward and puts her atop the conference leaderboard overall.

0 - The defending national champions have been making a statement early in the season, and while their offence has made headlines with an OUA-best 169 points for, their defence has been equally impressive. In two games thus far, including their most recent shut out against the Brock Badgers, the Gaels have kept their opponents off the scoreboard, having yet to allow a point against their conference competitors.
