
McCrory, Fafinski named OUA athletes of the week

In what was a three-win week for the No.2 Varsity Blues, Sam McCrory simply could not stop scoring, racking up a total of 11 goals during that span for Toronto.
McCrory and the team began their week with a tough test against their rivals from York, in which the third-year forward netted one goal for the Blues in their 3-0 win. From there, Toronto turned their attention to a back-to-back with the McGill Martlets, games in which the Blues, and McCrory in particular, dominated on the scoreboard. The native of Kitchener, Ont. studying kinesiology produced a sensational five-goal outing in their 9-1 win over McGill on Saturday before matching that output in their follow-up 7-0 victory.
The offensive explosion from McCrory helped the Varsity Blues extend their unbeaten streak to start the season and push their record to 4-0-1 overall.

It was a weekend to remember for Sean Fafinski, as the fifth-year player produced a career-best stretch as part of TMU's display of offensive excellence.
In what was the most productive offensive weekend of his career, the business manager major notched a stunning six goals in just two games. Always a reliable member of the Bold's midfield, Fafinski's previous season-high in goals was three, making his two-game stretch all the more impressive. The weekend started with a five-goal outing, as Fafinski made his mark both on set pieces and from distance against RMC. He finished the weekend by coming off the bench against Queen's on Sunday and scoring directly on a corner kick to bring his two-game tally to six.
Fafinski helped his team outscore their opponents by a 22-1 margin on the weekend, while also catapulting himself up to the second spot on the OUA scoring leaderboard with seven goals on the year.
