It has been a sensational start to the season for the Waterloo women's volleyball team, with Sarah Glynn continuing to shine for the black and gold through their latest weekend of action.
The outside hitter from Fredericton, N.B. was nearly unstoppable in the team's two weekend tilts against Brock and Toronto, respectively, putting up the two highest scoring performances of the season from any OUA player thus far. In their first test against the defending conference champs, the Warriors went the distance in a five-set thriller, and although they fell just shy therein, they received a 28-point effort from Glynn. With 25 kills and a service ace, the kinesiology major was a threat to score all night, and defensively, she shone with 11 digs and four blocks for the black and gold.
The fourth-year player would continue her dynamic play against the perennial contender Blues in what was another five-set contest. Anchored by 22 kills from the league leader in that category, Waterloo was able to prevail over Toronto and push their record to 5-1 on the year overall. Glynn would add two more service aces, two blocks, and 12 digs for her side as part of the 25.5-point outing overall.
In addition to leading the OUA in kills (98), Glynn also paces the conference with her 5.16 kills per set.

The York men's hockey team was faced with a daunting task this weekend with a back-to-back against the No. 5 team in the country, but Xavier Pouliot helped lead the Lions to a pair of wins as they prevailed with flying colours.
Pouliot, a fourth-year defender, not only shone on the blueline for the Lions, but also on the scoresheet, as his two-way play was instrumental in the team's two wins against their nationally-ranked foes from Windsor. In their first matchup with the Lancers on Friday, the veteran rearguard opened the scoring for York in the final minutes of the opening frame. He would then help set up the Lions' second goal early in the middle period to cap off his two-point night in what was a 3-2 overtime win for his Lions.
In the encore, the Saint-Isidore, Que. product majoring in commerce did one better. He would pick up an assist on each of York's two goals before finding the back of the net himself in the third period. His tally was not only his second of the weekend - and first two of the year for the York captain - but proved to be the game-winner as well in the Lions' 5-3 win.
Pouliot now leads his group with his six helpers on the year, while sitting second on the team with his eight points thus far.
