By the Numbers: Lancers snap lengthy road skid with victory over Gryphons
 - Week 2 (1).png)
2536 - Prior to their thrilling win this past weekend, it had been seven years since the Windsor Lancers football team took home a road win. That all changed when they upended the nationally-ranked Gryphons this past weekend in Guelph. In their highly sought 28-24 road win, the Lancers were led by Joey Zorn's 198 rushing yards on the offensive side and seven tackles from Devin Veresuk on defence, collecting their first victory as visitors since September 26, 2015 against Wilfrid Laurier.

2015 - For the first time since 2015, the Wilfrid Laurier women's soccer team has picked up a pair of wins in their first two games, starting the season with a mark of 2-0. They did so with back-to-back wins against their crosstown rivals from Waterloo, winning their opener at home by a 2-0 mark, followed by a 4-1 win as the visitors.

20 - Chris Campoli continues to etch his name into the Ontario Tech history books, as the dynamic forward opened the season with a masterful outing. Notching a pair of goals against Queen's, the game's only two tallies, the third-year standout put himself in a tie for first among the Ridgebacks' all-time goal-scoring ranks. His 20 career markers tie him with Erik Petrovic, however, the Ridgeback alumnus set the mark in 78 games compared to Campoli's productive 25-game stretch.

9 - Even with a lengthy weather delay keeping the teams off the field for an extended period of time, the Queen's Gaels saw plenty of James Peter throughout their tilt with Ottawa. The fourth-year linebacker racked up nine solo tackles (9.5 total) in their Saturday night home opener. In fact, Peter has been able to wreak havoc in both Gee-Gees games this year, as he currently leads the nation in total tackles (17.5), solo tackles (15), and paces the conference pack with 8.8 tackles per game.

7 - The York Lions offence was in fine form to start the season, churning out a combined 9-0 result in their back-to-back wins over Windsor. The biggest star for the No. 2 Lions proved to be Soji Olatoye, who put persistent pressure on the Lancers in both contests. He was rewarded with three points (two goals, one assist) in the team's opener, and while he wasn't able to find the scoresheet in their encore, the senior midfielder/forward put seven shots on net in a key offensive role.

6 - It is no easy task to start a season against the defending conference champions, but the Carleton Ravens were faced with just such a test in their first game of the year. While they didn't come away with the win, they managed to secure the 1-1 draw against the high-octane Queen's Gaels offence, and the black birds can thank goalkeeper Chloe Lachance-Soulard in large part for that result. The third-year netminder turned away six of the seven shots she faced, including a series of brilliants first half saves, backstopping her Ravens to a valuable road point.
