
OUA announces Nambogga Sewali as new Finance & Business Manager
Burlington, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Nambogga Sewali as the organization’s new Finance & Business Manager.
With several years of experience in finance and business operations roles in university and member-based organizations, in addition to almost 10 years of coaching and managing youth and varsity women’s basketball players, Sewali is excited to bring two of her greatest strengths and passions the OUA.
“We are looking forward to having Nambogga join the OUA and take on the finance and business portfolio,” said Gord Grace, OUA President & CEO. “Not only does she bring valuable experience in those areas, but a passion for the work and for the university sport landscape that we anticipate being of great value for her portfolio and for the conference as a whole.”
The Brock University and Laurentian University graduate, who also completed a graduate diploma in business administration at Thomspon Rivers University (TRU), is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration from TRU, to be completed this spring.
Since 2018, Sewali has served as the business officer at the Institute of Islamic Studies at the University of Toronto. She also spent a year as an executive member of the United Steelworkers (USW) Local 1998, managing all finance for a local USW office; was on secondment for a year as the business officer for Caretaking Services at U of T; and worked as centre administrator for the institution’s Centre for Ethics.
For the past five years, Sewali has been an assistant coach for the Varsity Blues women’s basketball team. Her basketball experience extends further back, meanwhile, as Sewali was also the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for the Windsor Lancers women’s team and head coach at Cambrian College.
“I’m excited to be joining the team to learn, grow, and positively impact young student-athletes,” said Nambogga. “As a young, Black women, I look forward to bringing a unique and diverse perspective reflective of the diversity in the OUA.”
