OUA announces Shauna Bookal as new Manager of EDI & Student Experience
Shauna brings an extensive sport background to the position that the OUA is confident will help her thrive in the role.
"We are excited to have Shauna join the OUA team in this important position," said OUA President and CEO Gord Grace. "Shauna brings a wealth of both EDI and sport leadership to the role. Her familiarity with the OUA will allow us to continue the progress we have made in EDI, Women in Sport, social change, and safe sport."
Shauna has spent the past three years with Field Hockey Ontario, and most recently served as their Executive Director, overseeing membership growth and strategic partnerships.
Her experience goes beyond field hockey; however, as she is actively involved in the community sitting on several boards and committees that include the Durham Region Anti-Racism Taskforce, Coaching Association of Canada, Anti-Black Racism and Black Excellence with Durham Catholic District School Board, as well as a mentor with the Emerging Leader Development Program with the Canadian Olympic Committee, and the Black Female Coach Mentorship Program with the Black Canadian Coaches Association.

I am looking forward to working with our members to continue to build and grow EDI programs across the province."
Shauna will begin her tenure with the OUA on September 19, 2022.
