Banner Season: Golden Hawks soar to third straight title with extra ends finale
Peterborough, Ont. (via Trent Excalibur) – The Wilfrid Laurier Hawks are the 2023 OUA men’s curling champions.
The Hawks went undefeated all weekend, facing TMU Bold in the quarter final game, defeating them 9-4.
The men defeated Guelph 6-5 in the semi final game, which sent them on their way to face Queens in the gold medal draw.
With great effort from both teams, the Hawks claimed the gold medal with a 6-5 score.
This marks the team's third consecutive gold medal finish since 2020, with a break in play in 2021 due to COVID-19.
The Brock Badgers defeated Guelph 4-3 for the bronze medal.
Laurier, Queens and Laurentian (host) will go on to compete in the U SPORTS national championship in Sudbury in March.
