St. Catharines, Ont. (via Brock Badgers) – A day of close races and razor-thin heat times sets up a promising final at the OUA Rowing Championships on Saturday, Oct. 25.
The final day of racing begins at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course in St. Catharines. The final draw can be found here.
Awards, medals and banner are scheduled to be presented at 2 p.m., or an hour after the final race.
On Friday, a field of 14 schools hit the water in pursuit of a provincial glory. The two-day event, which was jointly hosted by ROWONTARIO and the OUA kicked off with junior varsity and novice medal races before shifting to the championship heats in the afternoon.
The hometown Brock Badgers and visiting Western Mustangs deployed the largest fleet of boats of 30 and 29 entries, respectively.
Western leads the early standings with a total of 17 points as their men’s team finished atop the Day 1 standings, while the Mustangs women’s squad finished tied with Queen’s in the early going. The Badgers’ men’s team currently sits second.
