Gryphons’ Dixon earns OUA Peak Performer of the Week
Burlington, Ont. – Josiah Dixon has been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Peak Performer of the Week for the period ending September 22, 2019.
Peak Performer – Josiah Dixon, Guelph Gryphons, Golf
In the history of men’s varsity golf at the University of Guelph, there have been a total of seven individuals who have gone on to claim the title of OUA individual champion. Josiah Dixon has the type of game that could make him the eighth on that list.
The talented native of Owen Sound, who is now in his second season with the Guelph Gryphons men’s golf team, took home a pair of impressive performances at both the Western and Brock Invitationals.
Dixon’s week began with a T2 finish on Thursday (Sept. 19) at St. Thomas Golf and Country Club, where the Gryphons team captain led by example, shooting an even par 72 to help lead the Gryphons to a first-place finish in the team standings, finishing 8 strokes ahead of the host Western Mustangs. Three days later, the physical sciences major was at it again, this time posting a score of one-under, 71 to finish 1st in the men’s individual standings at Sawmill Golf Course in Fenwick, Ontario, where the Gryphons men’s team finished 3rd in the team standings.
