Ravens Williams earns OUA Peak Performer of the Week
Burlington, Ont. – Zoë Williams has been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Peak Performer of the Week for the period ending February 23, 2020.
Peak Performer – Zoë Williams, Carleton Ravens, Nordic Skiing
For the fifth year in a row, the Carleton Ravens women’s team found a golden finish on the provincial stage, and right at the centre of their success once again was the ever-speedy veteran Zoë Williams.
Williams found herself on three different podiums for the three races in which she competed this weekend, contributing another all-star effort for the OUA banner season champions. The fifth-year skier started her stretch with a bronze medal in the women’s 10km free race with a time of 29:23.5. Her second podium of the weekend would come the following day in the 15km race, wherein she secured a silver medal result (50:01.9). Her final piece of personal hardware came as a key member of the 3x5km relay team that claimed another second-place result. Williams posted the top time in her leg and helped the Carleton crew finish just 0.8 seconds behind the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
All-told, Williams’ bountiful bevy of medals proved to be crucial in the Ravens’ overall result in which they topped the aforementioned T’Wolves by just six points.
