Excalibur’s Michel earns OUA Peak Performer of the Week
Burlington, Ont. – Leah Michel has been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Peak Performer of the Week for the period ending October 20, 2019.
Peak Performer – Leah Michel, Trent Excalibur, Lacrosse
After earning a title in her first year with the Excalibur, Trent’s Leah Michel (Courtice, Ont.) earned another one in her senior year, leading her team to an OUA lacrosse championship over the weekend.
The fourth-year attacker, who has been a lynch pin for the Excalibur on the field, continued her impressive play into championship weekend to anchor her team’s efforts on and off the field. When looking at the scoreboard, Michel was able to find the back of the net consistently across Trent’s three wins, picking up four goals in their quarterfinal win over Guelph, five goals in their semifinal clash with Ontario Tech, and a pair of tallies against the defending champion Queen’s in the final.
More than just her scoring, however, the second-team all-star also provided tremendous leadership for the thriving Excalibur squad and is a big reason why Trent lacrosse is bringing an OUA championship banner back to Peterborough.
