Statement from Ontario University Athletics regarding COVID-19
Burlington, Ont. – First and foremost, we hope that all of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators are staying safe and healthy, and abiding by the necessary measures in place to ensure others are as well.
Amidst the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic, our focus continues to be on our student-athletes and providing them with a safe and positive experience in the 2020-21 season.
To ensure this focus remains at the forefront, the OUA is working closely with our 20 member institutions, U SPORTS, and our conference colleagues across the country on an ongoing basis. The OUA is also consistently communicating with our Board of Directors, as we look to assess the impact of COVID-19 on the upcoming season. We remain mindful and diligent in our consideration of athlete safety, schedules, travel, and additional implications as we undergo continued contingency planning for our 23 sports.
As a reminder, in-person recruiting and participation restrictions remain in effect for all OUA activity, as we look to keep taking the necessary steps to slow the spread of COVID-19.
