
Brock advances to Final Four; will face No. 1 Carleton Friday night

ST. CATHARINES, ON - The No. 5 Brock University men's basketball team defeated the University of Toronto Varsity Blues by the score of 80-59 in the OUA 1/4 Finals Saturday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers will now travel to Ottawa next weekend to take on the No. 1 Carleton Ravens in the OUA Semi-finals.
Brock led 22-18 at the end of one quarter, and extended their lead to 32-22 midway through the second quarter. The Badgers offense continued to shine in the second half as they went up by as many as 20 points, on route to their 24th victory of the season.
The Badgers had three players in double figures. Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, ON), Johneil Simpson (Toronto, ON) and Cassidy Ryan (Mississauga, ON) all added 18 points each. Elgadi also finished with the double-double pulling down 15 boards and also had five assists and four blocks.
The Brock bench outscored Toronto's bench 40-11 and dominated the glass pulling down 52 rebounds to the Varsity Blues 34.
The Badgers shot 53.3% (32-60) from the field including 23.1% (3-13) from beyond the arc and 72.2% (13-18)
from the charity stripe. Toronto was held to just 29.9% (20-67) from the floor, 18.2% (4-22) from three-point land and 71.4% (15-21) from the free throw line.
