Graham, Ring named Investors Group OUA Athletes of the Week

MALE: Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) – 3rd yr – Queen's Gaels – Basketball
Queen’s guard/forward Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) has been named the Investors Group OUA Male Athlete of the Week after he led the hometown Gaels to home-opening weekend sweep.
On Friday night against Laurier, Graham, a third-year kinesiology major, finished tied for the team high with 15 points as the Gaels defeated the Golden Hawks 80-68. The Kingston, Ont. native also added six rebounds, five blocks, two assists and a steal in 30 minutes of action for the Gaels.
The 6’7” Graham, who sees time at both guard and forward for the Gaels, followed that up on Saturday with 16 points and 16 rebounds as Queen's completed the sweep of their visitors from Waterloo, Ont. with a 78-59 victory over the Warriors. Graham also had five blocks, four assists and a steal for the Gaels.
Through four games, Graham has 11 blocks to lead the conference, while his 11.0 rebounds per game ranks him third in OUA.
Next up, Graham and the Gaels will head out on the road as they will head north to Thunder Bay on Friday night.
FEMALE: Kellie Ring (Ottawa, Ont.) – 5th yr. – Ryerson Rams – Basketball
Despite some new surroundings, it’s been business as usual for Ryerson Rams guard Kellie Ring (Ottawa, Ont.) who has been named Investors Group OUA Female Athlete of the Week.
Ring, who transferred from the uOttawa Gee-Gees to pursue her Masters of Digital Media at Ryerson, went a perfect 7-for-7 for 15 points as the defending Critelli Cup champion Rams defeated the Nipissing Lakers. She also added six assists, four rebounds and three steals in just 16 minutes.
The Ottawa, Ont. native followed that up on Saturday against Laurentian with seven points and seven rebounds as the Rams defeated the visiting Voyageurs 66-61. Ring, a 5’9” guard, also had three assists and two steals in a game high 36 minutes.
Ring and the Rams will travel to Sault Ste. Marie on Friday night as they take on a surprising Algoma Thunderbirds team that is coming off an upset of the No. 1 nationally ranked Carleton Ravens.
