Tatham takes professional development leave from Ryerson for NBA D-League
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams announced today that men's basketball lead assistant coach Patrick Tatham will be taking a professional development leave for the next eight months to join an NBA Development League (D League) squad.
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams announced today that men's basketball lead assistant coach Patrick Tatham will be taking a professional development leave for the next eight months to join an NBA Development League (D League) squad.
"We are excited and take great pride in supporting Patrick on his continued journey in coaching," said Ryerson head coach Roy Rana. "This professional development leave will allow him to continue his growth as an elite coach. It has been amazing to witness the development of Patrick as a young man and now a high level coach, and our program looks forward to the knowledge and experience he will bring back to the Ryerson family."
Tatham served for five seasons as an assistant coach with the Rams before serving as interim head coach in 2015-16. As interim head coach, he led the team to a second straight 17-2 regular season, while finishing atop the OUA standings for the first time. In late January, 2016, school history was made by becoming the first Ryerson team in any sport to earn the No.1 national ranking.
The Rams successful campaign would continue as the program captured its first OUA title by defeating reigning five-time CIS champion Carleton in the Wilson Cup final. At the CIS National championship, the Rams won their second straight bronze medal. Tatham was named OUA Coach of the Year and then became the first Ryerson coach to claim the Aberdeen Trophy for CIS Coach of the Year.
