Gaels lose in December exhibition match to UOIT 5-1
OSHAWA, Ont. - The Queen's Gaels men's hockey team were back on the ice on Wednesday night as they travelled to Oshawa to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks falling 5-1 in the exhibition matchup.
OSHAWA, Ont. - The Queen's Gaels men's hockey team were back on the ice on Wednesday night as they travelled to Oshawa to take on the UOIT Ridgebacks falling 5-1 in the exhibition matchup.
The Ridgebacks were quick to jump out in front of the Gaels scoring five minutes in to take an early 1-0 lead. The Gaels struck nearly 10 minutes later as Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) beat the Ridgeback netminder off a pass from Ryan Bloom (Calgary) to even the score at 1-1. After UOIT scored a late goal they headed to the 1st intermission with a 2-1 lead.
The second period was all Ridgebacks as they scored three times to take a commanding 5-1 lead. After no scoring in the third period the game ended 5-1 for UOIT.
Jacob Brennan (Halifax) and Chris Clarke (Fall River, N.S.) split duties between the pipes for Queen's.
The Gaels will travel to Trois-Rivières on January 8 as they start the second half of their OUA season at the UQTR Patriotes.
