With the win, the Blues
Toronto scored early and often with Cam Bernier, Christian Finch and Casey Knight giving the visiting squad a 3-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the game.
Fourth-year forward Tyler Liukkonen scored with six seconds remaining in the first and the Blues held a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes of action.
Fellow veteran forward Paul Van De Velde notched the lone goal of the second period midway through the game.
The Gryphons finally got on the board 4:23 into the third period, but Van De Velde responded less than two minutes later with his second of the night. Guelph's MacKenzie Nichol scored on the powerplay with just under eight minutes remaining and Russell Turner rounded out the scoring with an unassisted marker for the Blues.
Van De Velde led the Blues with two goals and one assist, while assistant captain Jeff Brown had four assists. Liukkonen added one goal and two helpers on the night.
Second-year netminder Michael Nishi made 36 saves in the win

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night (Oct. 31) as they head to London, Ont., to take on the Western Mustangs. The game will be streamed live on OUA.tv, starting with puck drop at 7 p.m.
