The Rams pressured the Lions' defence early through the second period. They eventually extended their lead off the stick of Jason Kelly after four minutes in the second period during a power play.
Daniel Clairmont added to the Rams' domination with 5:05 minutes left to play in the second period. The goal came from a short-handed play, in which Clairmont caught the Lions off position to rifle it past York goalkeeper Chris Perugini (King City, Ont.).
The final period intensified with both teams eager to keep possession. The Lions were able to grab a goal in the third period. Rookie Dylan Smoskowitz (Richmond Hill, Ont.) scored the first goal of his career on a power play five minutes through after the chance was provided by Trevor Petersen (Thornhill, Ont.).
