Jordan, Bodi, St Arnault named OUA football players of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Ethan Jordan, Drake Bodi, and Iain St Arnault have been named the Canadian Football Perspective’s OUA Players of the Week for Week 9.
Offensive Player of the Week – Ethan Jordan, Laurier Golden Hawks
One of the OUA’s top receivers made his mark in the Laurier Golden Hawks 44-24 win over the Carleton Ravens. After a quiet first quarter for Jordan, Taylor Elgersma found him down field, giving him the opportunity to showcase his speed, taking off for the 74-yard touchdown. The duo was not done, as they connected again, this time for 55 yards and the major.
He ended the day with 225 receiving yards, smashing his previous career high, and he now sits at an even 1,000 yards on the year, a Laurier program record. The fourth-year psychology student also finishes the regular season as the leading receiver in the OUA and U SPORTS for receptions (59), yards per game (125), and touchdowns (10).
Jordan’s regular season dominance helped lead the Golden Hawks to a perfect 8-0 season.
Defensive Player of the Week – Drake Bodi, McMaster
Bodi was a key defensive factor late in the McMaster Marauders 24-21 win over the York Lions. The fourth-year linebacker forced a York fumble. His pivotal play gave McMaster excellent field position, leading to a 44-yard field goal to take the 20-14 lead.
The local product made huge tackles, forcing the Lions to go two-and-out multiple times. He completed his outing with five solo tackles, including two sacks for a total loss of 17 yards.
Bodi's performance was crucial to the Marauders playoff berth, their first trip to the OUA playoffs since 2019.
Special Teams Player of the Week - Iain St Arnault, Queen's Gaels
St Arnault continued his impressive season on special teams in the Queen’s Gaels 54-7 win over the Waterloo Warriors.
He returned two kickoffs in the contest for a total of 106 yards, both of which put the Gaels in great field position and led to touchdowns on the ensuing drives. The Vancouver, B.C. native also returned 10 punts for 203 yards, with a long of 66 in front of a packed homecoming crowd in Kingston.
St Arnault’s sensational special teams play helped Queen’s lock up the fifth seed heading into the OUA playoffs this weekend.
