Robertson, Hubert, St Arnault named OUA football players of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Seth Robertson, Silas Hubert, and Iain St Arnault have been named the Canadian Football Perspective’s OUA Players of the Week for Week 3.
Offensive Player of the Week - Seth Robertson, Western
Seth Robertson continues to showcase his unique combination of speed and skill with his second game of over 100 yards receiving this season in Western’s 52-21 win over Carleton. The veteran receiver had four catches on the day for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
His first touchdown of the game came just before the five-minute mark in the second frame, a 55-yard catch and run from Evan Hillock that would give Western a 14-point lead. Robertson, from Cambridge, Ont., earned his second major from Hillock, this time for a 39-yard completion.
Robertson currently sits atop the OUA in both touchdown receptions (5) and yards per game (102.3).
Defensive Player of the Week – Silas Hubert, Queen’s
Silas Hubert, from Norwood, Ont., lived in the York backfield on Saturday afternoon in the Gaels’ 52-19 win over the Lions.
The big defensive lineman recorded four and a half tackles, four of which were for a loss. Hubert also frequently found his way to the quarterback registering three sacks on the day.
On top of all the chaos Hubert created in the backfield, he also scooped up a fumble and rumbled his way into the end zone for six points, helping Queen's extend their lead over York in the first quarter.
The environmental studies student leads the OUA with four sacks after Week 3.
Special Teams Player of the Week - Iain St Arnault, Queen’s
Returning missed field goals for touchdowns is so nice Iain St Arnault did it twice in the Gaels’ 52-19 win over the York Lions on Saturday. The victory was jump-started by the speed of St Arnault, who racked up 276 return yards and two touchdowns, which set an OUA record.
The fourth-year defensive back went on his first run of the game late in the first quarter to extend the Gaels’ lead to 21-0 at the break. The Vancouver product found the end zone once again taking advantage of the missed Lions field goal at the end of the third quarter.
He was also credited with a tackle on special teams, the cherry on top of an incredible week for St Arnault.
