BOXSCORE
Clairmont finished with two goals while Fine added one goal and two assists as he inches closer to the Rams all-time points mark. Fine's three point night gives him 130 career points, just one behind all-time leader Ian Richardson with one game remaining on the schedule.
Guelph opened the scoring when Seth Swenson finished a nice tic-tac-toe passing play with Cody Thompson at 10:20 of the first period.
The Rams scored four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead before the teams traded late tallies to round out the scoring.
Clairmont extended his point streak to nine straight games when he got the Rams on the board with his first of the night, a powerplay marker at 15:11 of the first. Aaron Armstrong fed Clairmont in the slot and the assist also extended Armstrong's point streak to nine games.
The two teams headed to the locker room knotted at 1-1.
After a scoreless second period it looked as though it would be a goaltending duel, but the Rams offence took over in the third, scoring four times in the final 20 minutes.
Josh Sterk scored his ninth of the season to give the Rams a 2-1 lead when he corralled a pass in the slot before spinning and firing the puck past Gryphons goalie Scott Stajcer.
Clairmont extended the lead to 3-1 at 11:35 of the third while John Carpino scored 57 seconds later to make it a 4-1 game.
Guelph's Robert Lepine scored with 1:03 remaining to make it 4-2 and the Gryphons elected to pull Stajcer for an extra attacker. Rams captain Fine made the Gryphons pay, potting an empty netter to seal the 5-2 victory.
Ryerson's Charlie Graham finished with 33 saves in the victory.
Aaron Armstrong finished the night with two assists to bring his season total to 40 points. He now sits second in the OUA scoring race and becomes just the sixth Ryerson player to reach the 40 point mark in a season.
The Rams, already guaranteed to finish atop the OUA West, move to 21-4-2 on the year while Guelph falls to 15-11-1 and remain in fourth place in the West.
The two teams will square off again on Thursday in Guelph to close the regular season.
