In the first half the Mustangs came out refreshed, as they were able to stop the intense Queen's half-court basketball holding them to 18 points in the paint.

Carleton 92 @ Lakehead 50
The men's basketball team were defeated 92-50 by the Carleton Ravens on Friday evening.
In the greatly anticipated re-match of last year's CIS gold medal game, the result was unfortunately more of the same for the Thunderwolves, who hung around for the first quarter but had no answer for the sharp shooting Ravens, who shot 61% from the field in the first half.
Lakehead started off the game with some pep in their step and got some help from Alex Robichaud, who hit two three pointers in the first quarter, including a buzzer-beater to end the first frame.
The Ravens' defensive clamps were applied to the Thunderwolves in the second quarter, as they were limited to 7 points in the frame while giving up 23 to the Ravens, who couldn't seem to miss, and committed a total of 5 turnovers on the game (compared to LU's 16).
Top scorer for Lakehead was Henry Tan with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Anthony McIntosh added 10 points and 4 boards.
For the Ravens, three players scored in double figures, led by Phil Scrubb with 15 points and Tyson Hinz with 13 points. Every player on the Ravens' roster scored at least 2 points.

Laurier 108 @ Toronto 96

Peter and the Hawks got out to an amazing start and led 36-15 after the first quarter. Toronto was unable to overcome the 21-point first-quarter deficit in the loss.
"I think it was a disappointing start to the game," said John Campbell. Hill went 20-for-22 from the free throw line and added seven boards and two assists on the night. The Toronto native now ranked second in the OUA, averaging 26 points per game.
Fourth-year guard Matt Savel of Hamilton, Ont., added a career-high 19 points and went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, while Devin Johnson had 12 points and seven boards in the loss.

Brock 72 @ Laurentian 93
The Laurentian Voyageurs men’s basketball team was victorious over the Brock Badgers this evening in a very loud Ben Avery gym. The final score of this evenings contest was 93-72 in favour of the home team Voyageurs. The Voyageur’s remain perfect on the season with their fourth straight victory.
The first quarter began with steady back and forth play between the two squads with plenty of scoring. Only 5 minutes into the game the Voyageur’s were able to get ahead 10-8 before finishing the first on a 13-2 run putting them up 23-10 in the early stages of the game. It was a well-played first quarter on both sides of the court by the Voyageurs giving them an early advantage.
The Voyageurs continued their strong play into the second quarter with very quick ball movement and strong shooting from beyond the arc. Head Coach Shawn Swords gave some on court time to some of the rookie Voyageur players during the first half, which paid off as the men’s team cruised to a healthy 45-30 lead at the half. Leading scorers at the midway point for the Voyageur’s were Alex Ratte and Tychon Carter-Newman.
After the half, the Voyageur’s came out knowing they needed to keep the lead while also limiting any offensive runs from the Badgers. The home team Voyageurs did just that led by a few three pointers from Alex Ratte and a couple dunks from Alex Yengue pushing the lead to 71-52 after three quarters. Also, not to be over looked in this quarter was the steady defense from the Voyageurs who continuously put the Badgers in tough situations throughout the game.
The final quarter of tonight’s game followed the same story line as the previous three, with the Voyageurs dominating on offense putting forth a very steady defensive effort. The final score of the game was 93-72 in favour of the home team Voyageurs who were led by a very strong 24 point effort from Alex Ratte and help from off the bench with 13 points from Ryan Bennett pushing the team’s undefeated record to 4-0. The many “pot bangers” and fans in the Ben Avery cheered on the men’s team loudly, definitely playing an important role in keeping the team motivated and silencing any momentum the Brock Badgers attempted to muster up throughout the game.

Laurier 70 @ Ryerson 84
TORONTO - The No. 6 Ryerson Rams put up 28 points in the fourth quarter on Saturday night, defeating the Laurier Golden Hawks 84-70 at Coca-Cola Court.
Ryerson started off by making several shots, while Laurier on the other hand missed a lot of their opportunities. A Peter Campbell timeout near the end of the quarter seemed to change the momentum in Laurier’s favour, and they kept that momentum going into the second frame.
Ryerson was caught making mental lapses, including several violations and a pair of offensive fouls by veteran Bjorn Michaelsen (Otterburn Park, Que.). Laurier started off the quarter by going on a 7-3 run.
“We got sloppy, we didn’t contest, we just didn’t play with the same level of intensity that we need to on the defensive end of the floor,” said head coach Roy Rana. “Just a sloppy quarter and thankfully we cleaned it up in the third and had a very good fourth.”
At the half, Ryerson led the contest 36-30.
The top scorer from the first half was another veteran on the Ryerson offence, Jahmal Jones (Mississauga, Ont.). Jones had 13 points at recess and finished the game with a game-high 22 points in 37 minutes on the court.
Jones wasn’t the only player that played well for Ryerson in the second half. Top scorer from the night before against Waterloo, Jean-Victor Mukama started to light it up from the three-point line. Mukama finished the game by going 3-5 from beyond the arc and had 13 points in the game.
“He’s (Mukama) a big time talent as he gets a little bit more comfortable with the physicality of the play he’s got huge potential to be a great player for us,” said Rana.
Another player with huge potential and that showed it during the third quarter of Saturday night’s game was transfer Kadeem Green (Markham, Ont.). He would finish the night with 20 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double.
Green threw down a couple of huge dunks to get the crowd pumping, but Rana doesn’t feel like he’s reached his full potential yet.
“As dominant as he is, I still think he has another level and we’re going to keep on pushing and pushing him,” said Rana. “He’s very good at this level right now but I think he’s got an opportunity to be so much better and we’re going to keep pushing him to get there.”
Ryerson was able to stave off the red-hot Max Allin. Allin, the top point getter in the OUA last season, finished the game with a team-high 17 points.
With the win on Saturday, Ryerson improves their record to 3-1 but is tied for fourth with Queen’s in a very tight OUA East division.
It’s been quite the week for Ryerson, playing three games with the Syracuse Orange on Tuesday night, and Waterloo and Laurier on the weekend. Rana is pleased with his team’s improvement from last weekend.
“I just thought our compete level was better. Better than the first weekend on the road and you know, I think that’s it. I think we need to be tougher and we have to compete harder and I think we did that this weekend.”
