173 – Combined saves by this week's Pioneer Energy OUA male and female athletes of the week. Brock women's hockey goalie Jenna Sosnoski took home her honour by collecting 79 saves in lifting the Badgers to shootout wins over the Waterloo Warriors and No. 2 Laurier Golden Hawks. The male athlete of the week was Evan Deviller of the RMC Paladins. The third-year netminder grabbed 94 saves over a two game span; including 50 in a 4-2 win over the UOIT Ridgebacks.
1 – The number of times the Ryerson Rams women's volleyball team has beaten cross-town-rival York since 2010, after downing the Lions 3-1 last weekend. The Rams prevailed on the strength of Veronica Livingston's 14-kill, 16-point performance. The last time Ryerson bested York was a 3-1 win on February 7, 2010. The Rams now sit at 8-4 in the OUA East division, four points out of second place. Ryerson will look to continue their roll as they host first place and sixth-ranked Ottawa on January 19 at 4 p.m.
10 – The margin of victory in each of four matches by McMaster wrestler Jason Buckle at the Brock Open. The 2012 CIS rookie of the year went 4-0 at the event winning by scores of 10-0, 10-0, 16-6 and 14-4 to claim the top spot in the 61kg weight class. For his efforts he was also named Outstanding Male Wrestler at the meet.
11 – Current winning streak for the Windsor Lancers women's basketball team. After dropping their season opener to the Carleton Ravens, the Lancers have reeled off 11 consecutive wins to hold a two-point lead over Western and Laurier in the OUA West. Windsor is lead by a trio of veterans; fifth-year forward Jessica Clemencon and guards Korissa Williams and Miah-Marie Langlois who are averaging 18.0, 15.6 and 12.8 points per game respectively. The Lancers will look to extend their streak with home games Wednesday against Guelph and Saturday versus Brock.
8.03 – The time in seconds posted by Toronto Varsity Blues runner Greg MacNeill in the 60-metre hurdles at the Can Am Classic meet hosted by Windsor. MacNeill's blistering time earned him gold and met the CIS standard, while falling one-one hundredth of a second short of the meet record which was originally set in 1987 by Western's Jeff Glass and equaled a year ago by the Mustang's Matt Brisson.
2nd – year in a row the Wilson Cup Final Four men's basketball championship will be played at the Mattamy Athletic Centre and hosted by Ryerson University. Each matchup in the four game tournament will be held in the arena bowl. Last year's event in the state-of-the-art facility saw the Carleton Ravens take home the historic Wilson Cup for the third consecutive season. The 2014 edition will take place February 28- March 1 and tickets for the event go on sale Friday, January 17. Tickets can be purchased online at ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000.
4 – The number of Wilson Cup Final Four men's basketball games that will be broadcast live on Sportsnet ONE. On Friday, the first semifinal will air live at 6 p.m., immediately followed by the second semi at 8 p.m. Sportsnet ONE will broadcast the bronze medal game live on Saturday at 4 p.m. and follow it up with coverage of the championship final at 6 p.m.
