Sider, Hill named Pioneer Energy OUA athletes of the week

Fourth-year guard Rachael Sider notched a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds in leading the Varsity Blues women's basketball team to a 58-54 victory over the Ryerson Rams on Sunday afternoon at the Athletic Centre Sports Gym.
The New Westminster, B.C., native went 8-for-22 from the floor and 4-for-8 from beyond the arc en route to a season-high 20 points. She added two assists and one steal on the day.
A philosophy and political science major, Sider drained three three-pointers in the first quarter as the Blues got out to a dominant 15-4 lead. She added another in the second frame and held a game-high 12 points at halftime.

Fifth-year guard Alex Hill became the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball all-time leading scorer with a 22-point performance versus the No. 4 Ryerson Rams on Sunday, January 5.
Hill went 7-for-20 from the floor and 6-for7 from the free throw line, while adding five rebounds and two steals. He had a monster second half, notching 18 points, 11 of which came in the third quarter.
The Toronto native needed 15 points to pass Dave West's record (1,269, 1960-61, 62-65) and hit that mark in the final minutes of the third on a free throw. Â An American Studies major, Hill has 13 regular season games remaining in his five-year career.
