CIS TOP TEN TUESDAY: York leaps to No. 1 in men's track & field
Â
In other CIS sports, Windsor (women’s basketball), Carleton (men’s basketball), McGill (women’s hockey), Calgary (men’s hockey), UBC (women’s swimming & women’s volleyball), Guelph (women’s track & field) and Brock (women’s wrestling) all held on to the pole position.
Â
In men’s swimming, UBC moves past reigning CIS champion Toronto following a dominant performance at the Canada West championships. The Thunderbird men claimed the conference banner with a comfortable cushion over meet host Calgary, finishing with 941 points compared to 755 for the Dinos.
Â
In men’s track and field, York and Guelph both move ahead of last week’s top-ranked squad, Windsor, after finishing 1-2 at the prestigious McGill Team Challenge, the largest indoor track meet in Canada. The Windsor men settled for sixth place at the competition.
Â
In men’s volleyball, Trinity Western is back at No. 1 following McMaster’s first loss of the regular season, a five-set defeat at the hands of No. 7 Waterloo. The top-ranked Spartans, meanwhile, swept a two-game set at No. 5 Thompson Rivers to improve to 17-1 in league play.
Â
In men’s wrestling, Brock takes over from defending CIS champ Alberta, which had led the first two national rankings of the campaign.
