HORNBY TRANSFERS TO LAKEHEAD MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
"We are very happy to add Cam to our team and fill an important spot on our roster," said Morrison of his new recruit. "We are excited about what he brings to our program including a dedicated work ethic and some valuable experience at a high level of basketball. He will make an immediate impact, adding both a high skill-level, and toughness to our perimeter."
Hornby is ready to join the team in Thunder Bay.
"I'm looking forward to attending Lakehead University this fall and having the opportunity to play basketball with a group of guys and a coaching staff who have the desire to win and succeed," said Hornby. "I'm ready to work hard and give this school all I have."
A stand-out player at Glenlawn High School in Winnipeg, Hornby led the Lions to the class AAAA Manitoba provincial championships in 2003-04 as a junior, earning tournament MVP. Hornby also suited up with the Manitoba provincial team programs.
The guard signed a full scholarship with NCAA Division 1 South Dakota State and red-shirted one season before using his first year of eligibility with the Jackrabbits. Hornby then returned home and used a second year of eligibility with the University of Winnipeg Wesmen in 2007-08 before sitting out the 2008-09 season and choosing Lakehead University to complete his student-athlete career.
