KRAVIC COMMITS TO LIONS MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
A six-foot-nine London, Ont. native, Kravic is one of the top high school power forwards in the province. He averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks per game at Westminster Secondary School this past season to lead the Wildcats to a league championship and a silver medal at "AA" OFSAA.
"I honestly can't wait to come to York," said Kravic. "It has an outstanding coaching staff that cares for the athletes both on and off the court. I believe I can immediately contribute to the team and I will grow with the current players for many years to come. I have already met the team and coaches and they're a wonderful group that will help me out for the first couple of weeks, which are always the toughest. All in all, I can't wait to wear the red and white."
Kravic is the newest piece of a young Lions team that also features David Tyndale (Mississauga, Ont.), the OUA East rookie of the year and a member of the CIS and OUA all-rookie teams, and John Lafontaine (Whitby, Ont.), who was also named to the OUA all-rookie team this season. The Lions reached the OUA quarter-finals this season and are only losing one player – guard Tut Ruach (Mississauga, Ont.) – to graduation.
"We are extremely excited about Dejan's commitment to play at York next year," said Lions head coach Bob Bain. "He is a highly-skilled big man with many guard-like skills including the ability to hit the three-point shot. He will be a huge part of our program for years to come because he can help us in so many different ways."
The Lions 2009-10 schedule will be released in June.
