Dyadchenko, Fuentes, Johnson named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Anastasiya Dyadchenko, Diego Fuentes, and Braxton Johnson have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending October 12th, 2025.
Anastasiya Dyadchenko, Tennis, Toronto Varsity Blues
Named a 2025 OUA all-star and 2025 OUA Player of the Year, Dyadchenko helped the Varsity Blues claim their third straight OUA Tennis Championship and 42nd banner in program history.
Serving as the team' No. 1, the social science major lifted the Blues through the first two rounds of the championship weekend with four wins across two singles and two doubles matches, no conceding a single set to her opponents. She then helped Toronto secure the doubles point in the gold medal match alongside her partner Maria Popova, as the Blues would go on to convincingly take the championship final by a score of 6-1.
Dyadchenko is now a three-time OUA all-star and has been named Player of the Year in two of the last three seasons.
Diego Fuentes, Baseball, Toronto Varsity Blues
Fuentes, a second-year kinesiology major, helped drive an unstoppable Varsity Blues offence to secure a third straight OUA baseball championship for Toronto this past weekend in Kitchener, Ont.
In an 11-5 semifinal win over the host Waterloo Warriors, Fuentes went 3-for-6 including a double. This led to a three RBI and two run game from the big-hitting outfielder from New Westminster, B.C.
Fuentes then followed that up with a 2-for-4 gold medal game outing, including a clutch two-run home run. He would finish the championship weekend with six RBI on five hits in total.
Braxton Johnson, Football, Windsor Lancers
Johnson was a force to be reckoned with in the Lancers 30-24 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday. The third-year defensive lineman terrorized the Ottawa offense, recording 3.5 sacks for a total loss of 29 yards and 4.5 total tackles.
His 3.5 sacks set a new season high and doubled his season total to seven. Johnson and the rest of the Lancer defense limited the Ottawa offense to just eight points through the first three quarters of action. The sociology student from North Little Rock, Arkansas’ efforts led Windsor to their fourth win of the season.
