Brashear, Dolby, Sciortino, Yeomans named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Jaxxon Brashear, Ethan Dolby, Marco Sciortino, and Anne Yeomans have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending September 14th, 2025.
Jaxxon Brashear, Football, Ottawa Gee-Gees
Brashear’s defensive performance earned the Ottawa Gee-Gees their exciting 30-23 win over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday afternoon. Causing three turnovers, the defensive back from Quebec City, Que. gave the Gee-Gees’ offence the opportunities they needed to stay in the game.
He had nine tackles on the day, including one sack and one forced fumble. Brashear’s pick-six in the final two minutes of the game sealed the deal for Ottawa, as he grabbed the Gryphons’ pass out of the air and ran it back for the major. It was his second interception of the contest.
Ethan Dolby, Football, Western Mustangs
Dolby had a monumental day in the Western Mustangs 63-26 win over Carleton Ravens. Adding to his impressive start to the season, the running back from St. Thomas, Ont. ran for over 100 yards for the fourth time in a row this season. He had 18 carries for 230-yards for the Mustangs in the nation’s capital.
He contributed four of Western’s six touchdowns in the contest. Dolby currently leads the conference and the country with 164.8 yards per game and 11 touchdowns after only four games.
Marco Sciortino, Soccer, York Lions
Sciortino, a rookie midfielder and forward from Maple, Ont. single-handedly carried the York Lions to a 4-0 win over the Windsor Lancers on Friday. He factored in on each of York's four goals, scoring a hat trick in the contest. His hat trick contributed to his first three goals in his OUA career.
The commerce student also assisted on the third tally from Christian Zeppieri to put the game out of reach in the 58th minute. Sciortino’s efforts helped the Lions capture their third win of the season, good for third in the OUA West standings and fourth in the national rankings.
Anne Yeomans, Soccer, Toronto Varsity Blues
Yeomens continued her hot start to the 2025 OUA season, scoring four goals across two games this weekend. The engineering student began the weekend notching both Varsity Blues goals in a 2-0 road win versus the No. 2 nationally ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday.
In the rivalry matchup against the TMU Bold on Sunday, the fifth-year veteran aided in Toronto’s late rally with two goals, including one in extra time, during a 3-3 draw with the Bold. Yeoman has recorded two goals in each of the last three games for the Blues, placing her atop the OUA leaderboard with six goals scored in five total games so far this season.
