Comartin, Dolby, Gibson, Joseph named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Avery Comartin, Ethan Dolby, Lizzie Gibson, and Chris Joseph have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending September 7th, 2025.
Avery Comartin, Soccer, Windsor Lancers
Comartin was the difference maker for the Windsor Lancers in two 1-0 wins in a home-and-home series with the Waterloo Warriors this weekend. The third-year striker spearheaded the offense, scoring both goals for the Lancers.
On Friday, Comartin found a gap in the defense and struck early with a quick shot past the Warriors keeper in the 22nd minute. The local product broke Sunday’s nil-nil tie in the 64th minute to secure the win for Windsor. In addition to her two game-winning goals, Comartin had eight shots, contributing to a third of the Lancers’ 24 total over the two games. She netted her first two goals of the season to give her 10 career OUA goals.
Ethan Dolby, Football, Western Mustangs
Dolby turned on the jets once again to help the Western Mustangs maintain their 3-0 season, with a 55-29 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday. For the third week in a row, the third-year running back ran for over 100 yards, while scoring three touchdowns, and carrying the ball 13 times. His longest touchdown of his trio was a 56-yard run midway through the fourth quarter.
Dolby from St. Thomas, Ont. put up an impressive 182-yards rushing for the Mustangs in the contest, adding to his league leading 143-yards per game, and 429-yards overall.
Lizzie Gibson, Rugby, Queen’s Gaels
Gibson led the Queen's Gaels with 55 points in their commanding 160-0 victory over the York Lions on Saturday in Kingston. The fifth-year arts and science student scored three tries and added an impressive 20 converts in the Gaels’ home opener.
Gibson from Caledon, Ont. set the tone early, scoring her first try just moments into the match, while her teammates added to the total and held the Lions scoreless. Gibson’s 55 points and 20 converts leads the conference after two weeks of action on the pitch.
Chris Joseph, Football, Toronto Varsity Blues
Continuing to lead the country as the top receiver in the OUA and U SPORTS, Joseph recorded another
record day as the Toronto Varsity Blues faced off with the York Lions in the 55th edition of the Red & Blue Bowl this past weekend. The primary target for the Blues offence in the Saturday afternoon showdown, Joseph tied the U SPORTS single-game record for the second time this season with 19 receptions.
The social science student converted those catches into 181 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Through three games Joseph leads the country with 44 total receptions and 561 total receiving yards.
