OUA is proud to partner with the NBA and be involved in NBA All-Star 2016. Buzz has been building across the province as the Bell NBA All-Star Challenge, presented by AIR MILES, has visited university facilities, giving Canadians the chance to participate in a 3-point shootout, skills challenge and dunk competition.
NBA All-Star 2016 will also celebrate the 125th anniversary of the invention of the game by Canadian James Naismith. On December 21st, 1881, while teaching at Springfield College in Massachusetts, Naismith introduced the first game of Basket Ball to his class. NBA All-Star 2016 is the first event to be held outside the United States and with the rising talent in the province and country, Canada is officially on the basketball map.
The Ryerson and Toronto game was originally scheduled for Nov. 28 and was rescheduled earlier this season to be included in the event.
