Brock downs Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers 92-76 in exhibition play

ROCHESTER, NY - The No. 4 ranked Brock University men's basketball team opened 2016 with a 92-76 victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Clark Gym.
The Badgers led 43-36 after 20 minutes and went on a 16-2 run early in the second half to take a 65-45 lead with 14:05 remaining. The Brock offense continued to roll as they won their 18th game of the season.
Brock had four players in double figures led by Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, ON) who recorded 26 points and nine rebounds to lead all scorers. Ryan Bennett (Toronto, ON) added 20 points and six boards, while Johneil Simpson (Toronto, ON) and Matt Marshall (Burlington, ON) 14 and 12 points respectively. Marshall also pulled down 10 boards for the double-double.
Leading the Tigers offense was AJ Horde who recorded 21 points. Also in double figure were Mitch Herman (14 pts) and Sheldon Clay (12 pts)
The Badgers shot 50.0% from the field (35-for-70), 50.0% (9-for-18) from beyond the arc, and 92.9% (13-for-14) from the charity stripe. The Tigers went 25-for-62 (40.3%) from the field, 12-for-21 (57.1%) from three-point range and 14-for-20 (70.0%) from the free throw line. Brock outebounded RIT by a 48-29 margin.
Brock opens the second half of the OUA regular season on January 9th when they host the Windsor Lancers at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
