IMPRESSIVE START FOR DEFENDING OUA CHAMPS LAURIER

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks made an impressive start to the 2007 season in Guelph this past weekend with two big victories over McMaster and McGill on Saturday.
Scoring was opened by veteran Golden Hawk Amy Fincham (Greenbank, Ont.) at the three minute mark. The Golden Hawks added five more goals to their tally before McMaster answered at the 21 minute mark. Katie Scott (Brooklin, ON) put the Marauders on board.
Kirsten Gerrie (Orillia, Ont.) started the scoring in the second half and went on to score three quick goals to take the score to 14 – 1 before Kristin Burton, (Peterborough, ON) added their second, which would be their last goal of the day.
Game goal-scorers were Gerrie with six goals and three assists. Behind her was Amy Fincham with three goals and an assist, while rookie centre Jayme Beard (Hawkestone, Ont.) scored two goals and added three assists. Rookie Braedyn O’Rahilly (Whitby, Ont.) scored two goals, Meghan Fox (Whitby, Ont.) and Andrea Wylie (Whitby, Ont.) each tallied for a goal and an assist each. The final two goals of the game were scored by Laura Juha (Mississauga, Ont.) and Ginger Whitney (Waterloo, Ont.) scored the last two goals of the game.
The second game of the day saw the Hawks facing the McGill Martletts (1-2) where they again exhibited a dominating performance in a 17-5 win.
