Bruk, Price, Wong named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Yigal Bruk, Dayton Price, and Mia Wong have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending October 19th, 2025.
Yigal Bruk, York Lions, Soccer
After scoring just once all season, Bruk was influential for the York Lions in their most important game of the season to date. The second year forward scored twice to help propel the Lions past the McMaster Marauders 3-2 in the OUA quarterfinals on Saturday night.
The Vancouver, B.C. product opened the scoring in just the third minute of the game, before adding an insurance marker in the 32nd minute to give York the early lead, and eventually punch thier ticket to the semifinal. He finished the contest with three shots and two shots on goal.
The Lions will continue their playoff push in the OUA semifinals next weekend on Saturday night when they host the Carleton Ravens.
Dayton Price, Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, Golf
Price couldn't have made a more impressive debut on the OUA men's golf scene. In his first season with the Golden Hawks, the Hamilton, Ont. native shot a combined two-day score of -6 to win the individual OUA men's championship at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club. In Saturday's opening round, the communication studies major overcame a double-bogey on his first hole by carding six birdies to shoot a -2 (68).
Despite less than favourable weather conditions on Sunday, he followed that up with five more birdies for a round of -4 (68), moving up four spots to become just the second Laurier men's golfer and first since Jaron Brown in 2019 to win individual OUA gold.
Mia Wong, Toronto Varsity Blues, Golf
Leading the charge for the Varsity Blues women and claiming the overall individual gold medal was the second-year standout Wong. The commerce major posted a tournament-best round of 71 on Day 2, leapfrogging her four spots into first place to claim the Judy McCrae Trophy as individual champion with a two-day total of 148.
She becomes the second consecutive Blue to win the Judy McCrae Trophy and sixth to lift it since 2006. Her spectacular Sunday was highlighted by five birdies and nine pars, helping her achieve OUA all-star status. Wong's outstanding performance also helped the Blues claim team silver, at the championships.
