Kyana-Jade Poulin, Basketball, Carleton Ravens
Carleton Ravens guard Poulin was dominant over the weekend. The veteran guard had back-to-back thirty-point games in the Ravens 67-62 loss to the Queen’s Gaels and 76-70 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
Poulin shot 40% from the field over the weekend while making 19 of 22 free throws. The fourth year applied linguistics student was also a defensive force, generating four steals and collecting 10 rebounds over the two games.
She currently leads the conference with 23.6 points per game through five games and a key factor in the Ravens holding on to a 4-1 record.
Owen Williams, Rugby, Guelph Gryphons
Williams, the fourth-year Erin, Ontario native has had a knack for coming up with the big try for the Guelph Gryphons and the OUA championship game was no different. Williams gave his team the early lead in the sixth minute, scoring the game’s opening try and scored his team’s other first half try in the 36th minute to give his side the 12-7 lead heading into the half.
With the Gryphons leading 19-7 in the 47th minute, it would be Williams who’d come up with the game changing try as he comes in, gets the ball from his teammates and races in for his third try of the night to give his side the 24-7 lead.
Guelph captured their fifth straight OUA banner, defeating the Queen’s Gaels 43-21. The human kinetics major and 2025 OUA first team all-star has had an outstanding postseason for the Gryphons, scoring a pair of tries last Friday in his team’s OUA semifinal victory over Brock.
