
Button, Onuska, Raymond-Leduc named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Jenna Button, Matt Onuska, and Oceane Raymond-Leduc have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending February 16, 2025.
Jenna Button, Western Mustangs, Basketball
Button had a massive weekend for the Western Mustangs to close out their regular season with two key wins.
On Friday night, the Dundas, Ont. product put up 22 points and had eight rebounds in the Mustangs 68-58 win over the Waterloo Warriors. She followed up that performance with 30 points, five assists, and four rebounds on Saturday night in their 74-63 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks.
Button and the Mustangs will face the McMaster Marauders in the first round of the OUA playoffs on Wednesday night in Hamilton.
Matt Onuska, Waterloo Warriors, Hockey
Onuska earned a shutout in the Waterloo Warriors’ overtime win over the Windsor Lancers this past week. The second-year health sciences student helped secure a playoff spot for the Warriors in the process, turning away all 28 shots he faced.
Onuska finished the regular season on top of the OUA leaderboard with a 0.941 save percentage.
Waterloo will battle those same Lancers in their first-round matchup of the OUA playoffs on Wednesday night.
Oceane Raymond-Leduc, Nipissing Lakers, Volleyball
Raymond-Leduc had a big weekend to cap off the regular season for the Nipissing Lakers.
She posted 26 kills in the first match of the weekend, as the Lakers earned their eighth straight win after coming back from 2-0 down to defeat the Brock Badgers 3-2 on Friday night. On Saturday, she added 17 kills and 18 points in Nipissing’s loss to the nationally-ranked squad from St. Catharines.
The outside hitter from Ottawa, Ont. finished the weekend with 43 kills and 44 points in two matches.
The Nipissing Lakers will also play Brock in the first round of the OUA playoffs on Friday night.
