
Dugas and Wedgewood named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Ryan Dugas and Emma Wedgewood have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending January 19, 2025.
Ryan Dugas, TMU Bold, Hockey
Dugas played a major role in helping the No. 10 nationally ranked TMU Bold secure two keys win during the week. In total, he stopped 52 of 54 shots, recording a .963 save percentage.
In the first game against Ontario Tech, the Hamilton, Ont. product made 27 saves and only allowed one goal in the 3-1 win. In the second game versus Toronto, he registered 25 saves and allowed only one goal in their 4-1 victory.
The third-year business management student has a 6-2 record so far this season posting a 2.38 goals against average and .924 save percentage.
Emma Wedgewood, York Lions, Hockey
Wedgewood backstopped the York Lions to a pair of wins over two of the top three teams in the OUA East this weekend in Nipissing and Ottawa. The third-year kinesiology and health science student made 30 saves on 31 shots in North Bay on Friday to earn her team the 2-1 victory in overtime over Nipissing.
She followed up that performance with 31 saves on 32 shots in what turned into a dominant 7-1 win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
The Innisfil, Ont. native is now 7-8 on the season, with a sparkling 1.92 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.
