Lancer Football falls to No. 5 Gaels in final regular season home game
The Lancers are now 3-3 on the season heading into week seven against the No. 1 McMaster Marauders.
In a tame first half, the Lancer offense struggled against a solid Queen's defensive line. The Gaels held the Lancers to 57 total yards in the first half, and seven sacks on QB Austin Kennedy.
The Gaels opened the scoring midway through the first quarter with a 32 yard field goal by Dillon Wamsley. Six minutes later, the Lancers conceded a safety to end the first quarter scoring.
The second quarter opened with another Queen's field goal by Dillon Wamsley, this time a short 18 yard kick through the uprights.
Queen's built a 22-0 lead in the fourth quarter with touchdowns by Giovanni Aprile and Justin Chapdelaine before the Lancers managed to get on the board with a 28 yard touchdown pass to Evan Pszczonak with 11 minutes remaining.
The Lancers were then assessed a penalty in their own end zone, conceding another safety to the Gaels to close out the scoring.
The Gaels dominated the Lancers on the offensive side of the ball with 580 total yards to Windsor's 268.
Kennedy finished with 210 passing yards, 62 rushing yards, and one touchdown while Dylan Whitfield led the way in the air with 97 yards receiving.
Queen's Ryan Granberg finished the game with 200 yards rushing, while Billy McPhee had 210 passing yards.
The Lancers will take to the road next Saturday as they take on the No. 1 McMaster Marauders live on The Score. Kick-off is set for 1:00pm.
