BLUES IMPROVE TO A PERFECT 5-0
The Varsity Blues became the first team in the OUA to five wins (5-0) after a four-set victory over Wilfrid Laurier. Toronto would let no ball touch the court as three players recorded 20 or more digs in the match. Second-year left side Heather Bansley (Waterdown, Ontario) finished with 12 points and 21 digs while teammate and setter Anastasia Danilova (Toronto) totalled 14 points and 20 digs to go along with her 37 assists. Fourth-year Hawks libero Melissa St. Amant (Penetanguishene, Ontario) led all players with 24 digs.
Waterloo 3, Ottawa 2
The Warriors took control of their homecourt by winning the final two sets and upsetting the previously undefeated Ottawa Gee-Gees 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 8-25, 25-23, 15-10). After Ottawa crushed Waterloo 25-8 in the third set to go ahead 2-1, many thought the game was over, however the Warriors played a consistent and clean final two sets to come out on top. While the Gee-Gees played superb on the defensive end, outdigging Waterloo 115-90 and making more blocks 11-5, the Warriors made fewer errors.
