WHITE NAMED NEW BROCK MEN'S GOLF COACH
\"We are very pleased to have John White as our golf coach for the Badger Team. John's credentials are impressive,\" said Assistant Athletic Director Chris Critelli. \"John's passion for the game is evident as he has made a career from it, as the Head Golf Professional at Beechwood Golf Course. The Athletic Department takes pride in the fact that he is a local and he chose to come to Brock and compete on the golf team in the late 70's. Brock's golf team will no doubt benefit from his expertise as a coach and former athlete.\"
Born and raised in St. Catharines, White was introduced to the game of golf by his father at age seven. A prominent junior golfer, winning his first major tournament at age 13 shooting 75 at Lookout Point, John continued to show promise throughout his teens. One highlight was at the age of 17, he was low qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur.
White turned pro at the age of 19. He has had many high finishes in his pro career and after finishing his apprenticeship, he played on the Canadian and Australian tours. Some career achievements are second at the Canadian Assistants, third at the Canadian Club Pro as well as many local wins at Pro-Ams and tour events.
He has also served on the Ontario P.G.A. Board of Directors and is an accomplished teacher, running a winter golf school. In 2004 he was named the Ontario P.G.A. Junior Teacher of the Year.
The Niagara District Junior Tour is another of his creations and is instrumental in promoting junior golf in the Niagara Region.
White has been the head professional at Beechwood Golf & Country Club for twelve years and co-holds the course record at 65.
