Buisa, Stratos named OUA athletes of the week

Burlington, Ont. – Dorcas Buisa and Alexia Stratos have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending November 24, 2024. 

Dorcas Buisa, Carleton Ravens, Basketball

Buisa was electric for the Carleton Ravens over the weekend, scoring 69 points in two games.

The fifth-year guard had 20 points in the fourth quarter alone on Friday night as she set a modern program record with 38 points in a single regular season game. She led the Ravens in their 74-69 win over Guelph on Friday night, adding five rebounds and six steals to her stat line.

Not to be a one-night wonder, the Gatineau, Que. native led the Ravens to their ninth straight victory on Saturday 81-70 over McMaster. She dropped 31 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the contest.

Buisa’s Carleton Ravens are the only undefeated team in the OUA and sit atop the OUA East standings at 9-0.
Alexia Stratos, TMU Bold, Hockey

Stratos delivered two stellar performances this week in net for the TMU Bold. She played a pivotal role in TMU’s upset victory over the nationally ranked Guelph Gyrphons 1-0 on Thursday evening. The third-year goalie secured the shutout in the win with 25 saves.

The Markham, Ont. product followed up that performance with 33 stops in the Bold’s 4-1 win over the Western Mustangs on Saturday.

Stratos posted an impressive .983 save percentage over the two games. 

Stratos and the Bold will look to build on this past weekend’s momentum as they host the defending OUA champions Waterloo on Friday night.
