GUELPH MEET HAS VICTOR DAVIS PRESENCE
Several Gryphons, past and present, had swimming roles in the film. Most of the swimming extras had an opportunity to audition for enhanced roles. Glen Oomen played Britain's Adrian Moorhouse, Sean Sepulis played American Steve Lundquist, Scott Van Doormaal played Canadian medallist Mike West and Soccer Gryphon Jamie Fairweather played Victor's friend and team-mate Dean Sonocki.
Other Gryphons to suit up to re-create the swimming scenes were present swimmers: Stephanie Hatt, Amanda Budd, Kristen Clouthier, Jeremy Warner and Jon Pilon as well as alumni Dan Lindquist, John Eddolls and Jeff Sumner who played the Alex Bauman swim double. Guelph Marlin swimmer Evan Buck was also called upon to round out the Guelph contingent.
Gryphon swimming has several other connections to Victor Davis and the movie Victor. Victor's dad Mel and his partner Adair will be at the meet to watch their niece current Gryphon swimmer Laura Kendall, who is a 2005 OUA medallist.
While shooting the Commonwealth Games scenes for the movie, the actor hired to deliver the disqualification news to the Canadian relay team was Robert Trick. Rob is an ex-Gryphon swimmer and a veteran actor in Toronto that we had lost touch with.
In addition, Gryphon alumnus and past team captain Peter Kolisnyk, a good friend of Victor who was in Montreal with him when he died, is returning to campus for the swim meet. Peter was a great resource in the preparation for the film. Peter was the executive with Speedo Canada that brought Victor into the Speedo organization.
