MILLER NAMED CIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Miller, a second-year criminology student from Pickering, Ont. earned Male-swimmer-of-the-meet honours at the OUA championship following a six-gold-medal haul, including two OUA records. Miller and his Mustangs teammates, who placed second to Toronto in the men team standings, now move on to the 2006 CIS championship hosted by Laval University in Quebec City, Feb. 24-26.
Miller not only claimed six gold medals in as many events, including four individual races and two relays, he shattered the conference records in the 100-metre freestyle and, along with Mustang teammates Rob Taylor, Brad Vanderkam and Rob Caratun, the 4 x 50m medley relay.
In addition to his record-setting victories, Miller was crowned on 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly, as well as in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay. His exploits helped the Western Ontario men finish second to Toronto in the team standings.
Miller will be one of the swimmers to watch next week at the CIS championship hosted by Laval University in Quebec City (Feb. 24-26).
