Hickey, Jackson, McCarry, Raitt named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Michael Hickey, Julia Jackson, Nick McCarry, and Keiara Raitt have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending January 18, 2026.
Michael Hickey, Toronto Varsity Blues, Volleyball
Going up against rival TMU on Friday and Saturday, fourth-year setter Hickey guided the Blues offence to back-to-back wins on home court. The Toronto native registered 40 assists in both games, averaging an outstanding 11.4 assists per set across the two matches. He added five kills and four aces to the Blues offensive totals, while also recording 13 digs.
Recording 40 or more assists in seven matches this season, Hickey now ranks third in the OUA averaging 9.75 assists per set and fifth in total assists at 468, while competing in two less matches than the players ahead of him on the leaderboard.
Julia Jackson, Ontario Tech Ridgeback, Hockey
Jackson capped off a memorable weekend with a strong all-around performance for the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, highlighted by a milestone appearance and a pair of multi-point outings. On Saturday night against the Western Mustangs, the veteran forward recorded a goal and two assists while skating in her 100th career OUA game. She marked the occasion with a three-point night in the 4-1 victory for the Ridgebacks on home ice.
Jackson followed that performance on the road the next day in a thrilling 5-4 win, dishing out three assists against the Toronto Varsity Blues. The masters student from Uxbridge, Ont., lead the offense and rounded out a six-point weekend.
Nick McCarry, Carleton Ravens, Hockey
McCarry extended his point streak to six games over the weekend. On Friday, the fourth-year psychology student tallied three assists on Friday in their 5-2 win over the Nipissing Lakers.
He backed up that performance with an assist and the game-winning goal in overtime on Sunday in the Ravens win over the RMC Paladins.
The veteran forward’s hot streak moves him to second in the OUA goal scoring race, the Ravens have now won three in a row.
Keiara Raitt, Waterloo Warriors, Hockey
Raitt put together an impressive weekend, netting four goals in two games. The forward from Ancaster, Ont. scored the Waterloo Warriors only goals in their 2-0 win over the Nipissing Lakers on Friday. On Saturday, she added two more to her tally in the Warriors’ 4-1 win over Guelph on home ice.
Since returning from a long-term injury, Raitt has scored two goals in three straight games, while her six goals since returning from the holiday break leads the league. She now has nine goals in only nine games played this season. The fifth-year veteran is a main reason why the Warriors were able to pick up right where they left off in 2025, extending their winning streak to nine games.
