Tate, Vom Scheidt named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Leah Tate and Noah Vom Scheidt have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending November 30th, 2025.
Leah Tate, Basketball, Windsor Lancers
Tate delivered an outstanding scoring weekend, putting up 57 points across two games, highlighted by a 36-point performance on Friday that helped take down the reigning OUA champions, the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Her output was the most by a Lancer in 15 years, tying Jessica Clemençon for the second-highest single-game point total in program history. Tate’s 15 made field goals on Friday also set a new Lancers women’s all-time single-game record, surpassing Clemençon.
The Windsor, Ont. native followed up with a 21-point showing on Saturday as the Lancers knocked off the No. 7 nationally ranked Carleton Ravens. Across the two games, the third-year guard added 11 rebounds, four assists, and eight steals, while playing 65 of a possible 80 minutes over the weekend.
Noah Vom Scheidt, Hockey, Nipissing Lakers
Vom Scheidt was a driving force for the Nipissing Lakers’ offense this past weekend, racking up an impressive seven points over two games. The second-year forward opened the weekend with two goals and an assist in the Lakers’ overtime loss to the Queen’s Gaels on Friday night.
A playmaker from start to finish, Vom Scheidt added four more assists on Saturday in Nipissing’s matchup against Ontario Tech, helping fuel a 6–2 victory. The psychology student played a key role in generating the Lakers’ attack throughout the game.
The Ottawa, Ont. product now sits tied for second in the conference with 11 goals heading into the winter break.
