Fifth-year veteran Sacha Smart and first-year standout Lucia Stafford placed first overall in leading the Varsity Blues men's and women's cross country teams to the team titles at the 2016 U of T Invitational on Sunday, October 16 at Centennial Park.

Fifth-year veteran Sacha Smart and first-year standout Lucia Stafford placed first overall in leading the Varsity Blues men's and women's cross country teams to the team titles at the 2016 U of T Invitational on Sunday, October 16 at Centennial Park.
Stafford crossed the women's 5km finish line in 17:06.2, 41 seconds ahead of the next runner. The Blues placed 1-2-3-4-5 as Jazz Shukla placed second in 17:55.3, Charlotte Dunlap was third in 18:09.8, Christiana Agustin fourth in 18:19.8 and Honor Walmsley was fifth in 18:20.1.
Toronto finished with a combined team score of 15 points, ahead of Laurentian (57) and Waterloo and Brock (109).
Smart completed the men's 8km race in a time of 25:15.2. Robert Lawand was third overall in 25:26.1, while Noah Defreyne finished fifth in 25:41.9.
Yousef LeHaye placed eighth in a time of 26:17.9, with Samuel Kinahan crossing the finish line in 10th in 26:26.5.
U of T's men finished first overall with 27 points, ahead of Waterloo (58) and Guelph (78).
