TORONTO, WESTERN WIN 2008 OUA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
The team of Cheryl Beech (Forest, Ont.), Caitlin Jennings (West Vancouver, Ont.), Stephanie Grenier (Sherbrooke, Que.) and Lisa Boyko (Mississauga, Ont.) shot a team total of 496, eleven strokes ahead of silver medalists, the Waterloo Warriors. The Toronto Varsity Blues took home the bronze with a two-day total of 510.
On the men’s side, the Toronto Varsity Blues won their first OUA men’s golf title since 1988. Daly Kim (Toronto, Ont.), Nick Clark (Riverview, N.B.), Adrian Cord (Toronto, Ont.), Scott Samuel (Oakville, Ont.) and Mark Bania (Kitchener, Ont.) shot a two-day total of 621. The Waterloo Warriors narrowly missed gold with a total of 623, while the host McMaster Marauders won bronze with a score of 627.
The 36-hole tournament was held over two days at Crosswinds Golf & Country Club in Burlington, Ont. The three low gross scores on each women’s team following each 18-hole round were used to determine the team champion, while the four low gross scores after each round were used to determine the men’s champion.

Individually, Danielle Greene (Gananoque, Ont.) of the Varsity Blues shot a two-day total of 150 to finish in first place on the women’s side. Tiffany Terrier (Toronto, Ont.) of the Waterloo Warriors finished in second place scoring a 155, while Beech took bronze with a total of 163.
Humphrey Yeung (Markham, Ont.) of the Carleton Ravens took the top prize on the men’s side with a score of 148. Patrick Forbes (Toronto, Ont.) of the Queen’s Gaels shot a 149 to take the silver, while John Atherton (Toronto, Ont.) of the Laurentian Voyageurs and Toronto’s Cord finished tied for third with a score of 150.
