60 Word Blitz - A pre-game look at Week 8's games
Windsor Lancers vs. Laurier Golden Hawks
University Stadium
October 12 @ 11:00am
Last week, the Lancers ran into a tough matchup, while the Golden Hawks battled hard to come out on top. This week, it starts all over again, as Laurier will be looking for repeat success from rookie signal-caller Connor Carusello, while Windsor hopes that a repeat stat-stuffing performance by linebacker Daniel Metcalfe is in the cards to ground the Hawks.
Carleton Ravens vs. York Lions
Alumni Field
October 12 @ 1:00pm
Last week, the Ravens came up just short in a tough battle, while the Lions enjoyed a Thanksgiving weekend off. Michael Arruda hopes to build on his 14-touchdown season for Carleton, while the conference’s fifth-ranked passer, Brett Hunchak, aims to add to his 267 YPG. With both QBs excelling in the passing game, both aerial attacks should be on display.
Western Mustangs vs. Ottawa Gee-Gees
Gee-Gees Field
October 13 @ 1:00pm
It’s No. 1 vs. No. 2. Both the Mustangs and Gee-Gees are coming in hot after dominant performances and it’ll be a battle on the ground with two premiere rushers going toe-to-toe. With firepower on both sides of the ball, however, the big unanswered question remains – will Western remain undefeated or will Ottawa slay the dragon?
Toronto Varsity Blues vs. Guelph Gryphons
Alumni Stadium
October 13 @ 1:00pm
After hanging in against the Gee-Gees, Toronto takes on Luke Korol and the rested Gryphons. The Guelph senior is having a dominant year, which he’ll look to maintain to keep the Blues at bay. To grab their first win, meanwhile, Toronto will rely on the entire team to turn in a strong offensive performance against this top defensive unit.
McMaster Marauders vs. Waterloo Warriors
Warrior Field
October 13 @ 1:00pm
McMaster clawed out a victory last weekend and may need to do just that against Waterloo as well with playoff implications at play. The Warriors will turn to the Ford-Ternowski duo to continue their offensive dominance, which the Marauders will look to combat with the OUA’s sack co-leader, Enoch Penney-Laryea, and premiere tacklers, Nate Edwards (6.9 per game).
